Facebookfail ahead.
While Facebook bans images of babies being breastfed as offensive, they are defining Holocaust denial as reasonable behaviour in order to maintain their philosophy of “fostering open discussion”.
Now I am not one to jump on every instance of the varying shades anti-Semitic vitriol that can be found on the web and cry about it, but the fact that Facebook can have such blinding inconsistency when approaching their ethical and moral philosophy really has my knickers in a knot. Adding to that the fact that this isn’t one or two people being ignorant, but rather a widespread trend of hateful dialogue, I have to ask this: Why exactly Facebook is so scared of reigning in this kind of behaviour?
They can do it, so why won’t they? And if they are so dedicated to freedom of expression, why is something as natural as a baby being breastfed being redefined as inappropriate?
Get it together Facebook, or you might just have to deal with a #fbfail meltdown on Twitter sometime soon.
